For many young people, the excitement of passing their driving test is often overshadowed by the cost of buying a new car and sky-high insurance premiums. The good news is there are several great new and quality second-hand Nissan cars for teenagers or new drivers.
Manufacturers are fond of saying that a new model has “redefined” this or that. But nowhere has the definition of “small family car” been so thoroughly turned on its head as by the new Nissan Almera. The Almera is that rare thing: a collection of seemingly modest parts, melded together with art and purpose to create something truly spectacular.
Nissan South Africa has recently released their new 2015 Almera advert across the country and it truly illustrates the driving spirit of Nissan and Almera drivers. You have no doubt seen the advert on tv (perhaps even fast forwarded it on your PVR) or it’s played between previews in your local movie theatre. If you haven’t seen it or want to see it again, here it is:
Way back in 2001, Nissan South Africa introduced us to the C-Segment Almera model. It was available in both Hatchback and Sedan versions, unfortunately they were discontinued 2006.
Luckily however, the Nissan Almera is back in South African showrooms, but this time as a low cost B-segment model. The Almera is now powered by a 1498cc petrol engine that allows for a decent 73kW at 6,000rpm and 134Nm of torque at 4,000rpm. It is also available in both a 5-speed manual and 4-speed Automatic version.
