An all-electric sports car for Nissan?

With Nissan execs reportedly saying that they’re considering electric drivetrains for a possible new sports car platform, rumours have been doing the rounds that they’re contemplating a hybrid version of the iconic GT-R.
Nissan’s Chief Operating Officer, Toshiyuki Shiga, said in an interview with AutoCar, “The GT-R is part of Nissan’s heritage. In fact, since Nissan started as a car company, it has been offering driving pleasure through sports cars. I can’t commit to any new products but, as far as we know, we are keeping this brand, these technologies, and trying to offer sporty cars such as the Nissan ESFLOW Electric Sports Car (see the video below).
Nissan has already achieved widespread global sales success with its affordable electric LEAF. Who knows, an electric sports car might just be what the rest of the world needs to take a green alternative seriously and to move away from environmentally unfriendly gas guzzlers.
