Nissan EXTREM crossover concept revealed in São Paolo

Nissan EXTREM

The new Nissan EXTREM crossover is squarely aimed at the young and young-at-heart.

Nissan has just unveiled its first concept car, designed specifically for Brazil. According to the automaker, the new EXTREM crossover is “a radical concept car aimed squarely at young and young-at-heart car enthusiasts, keen to make a statement.” It’s meant to be a new urban compact sports car that’s exotic, yet attainable.

The project’s senior design manager at Nissan Design America, Robert Bauer, revealed that internally it’s referred to as ‘Baby Beast’ and that it’s seen “as an urban rally car, a tough little street fighter that can handle the urban jungle with agility and confidence.”

The EXTREM concept is built on Nissan’s V-platform with a design that reflects both the colour and passion of Brazil. The lightweight 2-door 2+2 crossover boasts a dynamic stance and raised ground clearance while featuring innovative elements such as wraparound glass, a ‘see-through’ A-pillar, floating roof rails, flush mounted door handles and 6-spoke 19” alloy wheels. It’s also said to be powered by a 1.6L direct injection turbo-charged engine – the same as found in the Nissan Juke, while it’s also expected to be available in front and four-wheel drive.
