Nissan’s mission is to take electric transport to a new level, not only with its existing EV cars like the Nissan LEAF but also in potential future cars, revealed at its latest launch. These future concept cars are however not real just yet – they are part of a universe called ‘Electrify the World’, featured in the game Fortnite.
Released on 25 October 2023 at the Japan Mobility Show, this virtual universe is a place where Nissan can showcase its vision for a future world where EVs dominate.
In Fortnite’s ‘Electrify the World’ there are four futuristic EV concept cars, each represented by a player character with unique features that allude to the concept car. Players of the game have to slide along grind rails that allow them to explore this universe. The player aims to light up the city by collecting batteries – used to charge each EV concept car and send power back to the grid. Along the journey through the game, Nissan showcases some advanced EV concepts.
At the Japan Mobility Show 2023 Nissan booth, a Fortnite experience was set up so that visitors could experience the game firsthand. The cars which were revealed at the show are the Nissan Hyper Punk electric car (the wildest of the four), Nissan’s Hyper Urban and Hyper Adventure SUV concepts as well as Nissan’s Hyper Tourer.
Some futuristic features of these cars are AI-controlled digital displays, image projections in the cabin, and headrests with AI biometric monitors that measure the driver’s heart rate, breathing and other vitals and then adjust the car’s features to the driver. All four cars also have a V2X (Vehicle-to-Everything) communication feature, which enables the car to communicate with other devices and other cars and is compatible with road infrastructure.
From what we have seen, we think that the future of electric cars is very bright indeed, with Nissan leading the way.
