Nissan’s E-Strategy: A More Connected, Electrifying Future
Attention South African Nissan drivers and EV enthusiasts, Nissan is ramping up its electrification strategy! With its long-term vision, Nissan Ambition 2030, Nissan aims to provide experiences that inspire confidence and excitement while enabling closer connections between people and society.
Building On A History Of Excellence And Innovation
The Japanese automaker has a rich history of innovation and design excellence that spans over eight decades. The company has always been at the forefront of technological advancements and has been instrumental in revolutionizing the automotive industry.
From the iconic Fairlady Z to the modern Leaf EV, Nissan has consistently pushed the boundaries of design and engineering. The company’s innovative spirit is evident in its constant pursuit of new technologies, such as e-POWER and ProPILOT, which showcase Nissan’s commitment to delivering cutting-edge vehicles that enhance the driving experience.
DID YOU KNOW? The Nissan Leaf EV was introduced in 2010 as the world’s first mass-market electric vehicle. In 2021, the Nissan Leaf was the best-selling electric car in history, with over 500,000 units sold worldwide.
The Electrifying Road Ahead
To achieve it’s inspired electrification vision, Nissan has announced new initiatives related to its electrification strategy, with a focus on democratizing EVs and e-POWER models to meet the needs of individual markets. Nissan plans to introduce 27 new electrified models, including 19 new EVs, by the fiscal year 2030, increasing the electrification mix across the Nissan and INFINITI brands to more than 55% globally.
In line with the progress of electrified vehicle penetration, Nissan’s latest forecast for its sales mix of electrified vehicles sold in major markets in the fiscal year 2026 is expected to increase globally from the planned 40% when the vision was announced to more than 44%. Europe is expected to have a sales mix of 98%, Japan at 58%, China at 35%, and the United States at 40% (EV only; by the fiscal year 2030).
Boosted Service Strategy For E-Car Owners
To enhance customer experience, Nissan intends to boost its Connected Car Service strategy from enriched onboard content to enabling on-demand functions to cater to diversifying customer needs. The company aims to achieve this through Software Defined Vehicles, which is already demonstrated by the e-architecture currently installed in Nissan Ariya and will be available in more models in the coming years.
Exciting changes are coming to Nissan’s electrification strategy, and we can’t wait to see what’s in store for South African Nissan drivers and EV enthusiasts. Stay tuned for updates!
