The 2016 Paris Motor Show in September saw the unveiling on the all new Nissan Micra Gen5. Totally redesigned, this model is a reinvention of the Micra all together. It is as bold as it is groundbreaking. Its design is edgy and eye catching, the highly advanced technology, and new innovative engine and body design make it leader in its class. It looks to cause quite a stir on the streets when it is launched in Europe.
“When the first Micra appeared more than 30 years ago, it marked a revolution in the small hatchback segment and opened a new chapter for Nissan. The fifth generation Micra is just as revolutionary, and will raise expectations for what a hatchback can, and should, deliver to its customers. Following in the wheel tracks of distinctive cars like Qashqai and Juke, the latest Micra reinforces Nissan’s position as a leader in automotive design,” said Carlos Ghosn, CEO, Nissan Motor Company, in Paris at the unveiling.
Despite the design overhaul of the Nissan Micra Gen5, there are very distinct design characteristics that have been implemented as part of Nissan’s overall look. These include the V-motion grille at the front of the vehicles that mark the start of the distinct sharp-edged lines that run through to the back end, the floating roof that creates a sense of space and the boomerang shaped lights.
One of the unique features of the Nissan Micra Gen5 is the spoiler that runs from the extended roof line that enhances the car’s aerodynamic capabilities. With measures taken to improve cabin comfort, the Nissan Micra also offers drivers the tools to find that perfect driving position – adjustable seats, ergonomically positioned pedals and gear stick, adjustable steering wheel and the extra room make this a car ahead of its class.
But that’s not all. This little cracker of a car is not only bigger, faster and better than ever, it is kitted out with the most up to date technology available, technology that is usually reserved for bigger cars than this. Fitted with Nissan Intelligent Mobility features, which are the precursor to the idea of autonomous driving, that includes Intelligent emergency braking and pedestrian recognition, lane departure prevention, Intelligent around view monitor, traffic sign recognition and blind spot warning to name a few.
The Nissan have teamed up with Bose® to create the Personal® Personal® sound system for the Micra Gen5. The six speaker system is the only one like it currently available. Driver optimised, built into the headrest are two Bose UltraNearfield™ speakers that works in conjunction with Bose PersonalSpace™ Virtual Audio Technology. There are additional speakers in the two front doors and tweeters on the A-pillars, creating a fully engulfing sound extravaganza.
Available in ten head-turning hues, the Nissan Micra Gen5 is not currently available in South Africa, but given the warm reception it received at the motor show in Paris a few weeks, ago it will only be a matter of time. Follow this blog or our Facebook page to stay up to date with breaking news.
