The Nissan Micra might be a one of the most affordable cars on the market, but that doesn’t mean that it has to be slow and boring! Over in Canada the Nissan team there have created the first ever Nissan Micra Cup in Quebec.
This one of a kind racing series promises to show off the other side of the Micra by allowing lucky drivers to take to the tack in a race ready Nissan Micra and burning some serious rubber.
Granted this isn’t your standard Nissan Micra, but rather a custom built race ready version that’ll set you back around $20 000. For this amount you’ll get the following racing enhancements:
- NISMO S Tune Suspension Kit
- FIA-approved racing seat
- 5-point harness
- Fire extinguisher
- Modified exhaust
- High-performance brake pads
- Safety cage
- Driver protection net
- Front and rear towing hooks
- Stylized Fastwheels wheels with Pirelli low profile high performance tires
Nissan has also stripped most of the interior out of the Micra to increase power to weight ratios. The end result is a Micra with a 1.6-litre DOHC 16-valve 4-cylinder engine producing 107 Nm of torque and 81 kW.
What do you think? Is this serious cool or seriously silly? Should South Africa host the next round of this race?
