The beautiful Nissan Murano has been gracing South African roads with its presence since 2004 with its wildly futuristic looks. Now, a very exciting Murano CrossCabriolet has been launched in the USA and soon to be in Europe.
Our first reaction was that of shock and questioning as this is the first of its kind to have an SUV cabriolet. Unheard of. Before we saw photos of this, we simply couldn’t imagine what such a vehicle would look like. It all seemed so WRONG.
But, thanks to Google, we quickly found some great photos of the Murano CrossCabriolet and much to our surprise, we really like it.
Unfortunately it would seem that the Japanese earthquake has severely slowed production. Despite the fact that the assembly plant itself didn’t sustain any damage, “supply chain issues” is the reason for this delay.
Some would argue that the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited also falls into the SUV Cabriolet category, however, it’s obvious that the Murano CrossCabriolet is a much more sophisticated car, specifically aimed at the high-end consumer.
It is still unclear as to whether we’ll be seeing any of these in South African dealerships, however, given our weather and open roads, it would be the perfect car for those who can afford it.
The Murano CrossCabriolet carries a price tag of $47,190 (approx. R317,900) in the USA, however, as we’ve seen in the past, this figure would more than double, should Nissan decide to launch it in South Africa.
What do you think? Would you drive one?
