Nissan has never been a brand to shy away from a challenge. So it’s really no surprise that four of the top-selling SUVs and bakkies in our lineup recently took on the many rigours of the Sahara desert to prove their mettle. The Nissan Nissan Patrol, Navara, TITAN and Terra (the latter two of which are US models) were put to the ultimate test and came out tops.
The trek started in Er-Rachidia in eastern Morocco, in the extreme climes of the Atlas Mountains that run on for over 2500 km across the breadth of northern Africa. Er-Rachidia first came onto the motoring map in 2006 and 2007, when the highway that runs through this distant city was included on the route of the famous Paris-Dakar Rally. Aptly termed the ‘gateway to the desert’ this portion of the grueling race turned out to feature the most challenging and frequent terrain changes by far.
The four Nissan models that took part in the challenge are poised to garner at least $1 million in global sales in the coming year, and it’s no wonder – these robust light commercial vehicles have been built to Go Anywhere. Watch how this epic experience unfolded in the video gallery below. Seeing is believing after all!
