The legendary Nissan Patrol has been one of South Africa’s favourite off-road vehicles. Launched earlier this year, the new Nissan Patrol boasts improved styling, comfort and some of the latest technological enhancements making it an even better 4×4. With the iconic legend celebrating its 70th birthday in 2021, these upgrades show the commitment of Nissan keeping the off-roader in a league of its own.
What’s New On The Nissan Patrol?
Starting with the exterior, the Nissan Patrol sees several signature design changes. This includes 18-inch machine-cut alloy wheels, new boomerang-shaped LED headlights and Nissan’s V-motion grille adapted in a new way for SUVs.
Its angular grille design further emphasises the SUVs strong stance and intimidating presence. They’ve also added new boomerang-shaped taillights that seamlessly integrate with a large chrome nameplate and sequential rear indicators – a first for any Nissan vehicle.
Moving to the inside of the Nissan Patrol, new diamond-stitched quilter leather seats stand out with added padding for comfort and a more luxurious feel. The front seats have lumbar support and climate control while the steering wheel is also hand-stitched to further boost the SUVs stylish prominence.
An 8-inch infotainment screen puts control at your fingertips with Bluetooth hands-free and audio streaming, climate control, Intelligent Key® with push-button start and remote keyless entry. It has a 13-speaker Bose premium sound system with multiscreen entertainment, including DVD screens and independent wireless headphones for passengers in the rear.
Whether you’re travelling in urban areas or the open road, this impressive SUV has it all. From driver safety technology, exceptional comfort and next-gen styling to amazing performance, the Nissan Patrol puts you in the driving seat ahead of the rest. This SUV can go almost anywhere which makes it the ideal choice if you want some adventure with the family.
Power, Performance And Safety
The Nissan Patrol has a reputation for being one of the most capable, durable, sophisticated and advanced cars on the market today. With this latest offering, Nissan is adding to that respected heritage by turning it into an even more complete SUV.
Like before, the Nissan Patrol is powered by a mammoth 5.6-litre V8 petrol engine delivering 298kW and 560Nm of torque. An intelligent 4×4 system with a four-wheel limited-slip diff gives the Nissan Patrol maximum grip at all times, regardless of the terrain.
It seamlessly transfers drive between wheels and axles and with a simple switch of a button you can choose between four drive modes. Thanks to better suspension and reduced vibration, you and your fellow adventurers can sit back and enjoy a more comfortable drive while exploring.
In terms of driver assistance technology, the updated Nissan Patrol has Intelligent Emergency Braking with pedestrian detection and an Intelligent Forward Collision Warning system. This warns the driver of any potential risks beyond the driver’s forward field of vision. They’ve also added Intelligent Cruise Control and Intelligent Driver Alert that will warn a driver if it detects drowsiness or inattention.
The Nissan Patrol has responsive braking provided by a 4-wheel disc brake system with ABS, EBD and Brake Assist. The aforementioned 4-wheel limited-slip diff (LSD) and a Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) system come standard which automatically prevents the vehicle from sliding sideways on slippery surfaces when changing lanes or going around corners.
When asked about the Nissan Patrol, Kabelo Rabotho, Director of Marketing at Nissan South Africa had the following to say: “Engineered with the latest intelligent mobility technologies, the new Patrol will give its drivers and passengers a luxurious drive. The legendary vehicle is one of Nissan’s most cherished models with sophisticated technology as well as a long and proud heritage. We’re confident the new model will provide drivers with unrivalled luxury.”
The new Nissan Patrol is the ideal SUV to take on any road in South Africa and will be a welcome addition to your family.
