Nissan Middle East just smashed a world record by gathering 180 Patrols to do a synchronised car ‘dance’ on the grounds of the Dubai Rugby 7s stadium on 23 October 2018. The previous record for largest synchronised car dance was held by the Dubai police department, who celebrated their national day in 2017 by doing a similar dance with 143 vehicles in tandem.
What On Earth is A Car Dance?
Essentially, it’s just a fancy way of saying a number of vehicles, in this case, 180 Nissan Patrols of various models, drive along a predetermined route that forms a pattern when viewed from above. Nissan Middle East chose to take the record with the shape of a giant falcon in flight over the sands of an Arabian desert – quite suitable for the Nissan Patrol, which is a very graceful vehicle despite its strong stance and high-powered personality.
Third Record for the Nissan Patrol
However, this is not the only Guinness World Record held by the Nissan Patrol. It achieved two others in 2013 and 2015 respectively, namely:
The heaviest aircraft pulled by a production vehicle. The Patrol SUV took this title in 2013 when the vehicle pulled a 170.9-ton cargo plane for more than 50 meters at Sharjah International Airport in the UAE. The title previously belonged to the Volkswagen Touareg V10 TDI, which towed a Boeing 747 weighing 155 tons.
Fastest time to ascend a 100 m sand dune by a car. The Patrol achieved this feat in 2015 on a sandbank at Wadi Rum with a slope of 49 degrees, scaling it in a matter of 4.9 seconds!
DID YOU KNOW? The Guinness Book of Records first appeared on the shelves on August 27, 1955. Excluding non-copyright works such as the Bible and the Quran, it is the world’s best-selling book. Up until now, over 100 million copies have been sold in 37+ languages around the globe.
