Nissan unveiled an aggressive, off-road-ready concept version of its X-Trail SUV at the recent Tokyo Auto Salon, which shows what the new X-Trail could truly be capable of when it comes to the great outdoors.
Although it won’t be heading into production, this concept SUV showcases the adventurous spirit and off-road flair of possible future X-Trail variants. Dubbed the X-Trail Crawler, this beefed-up vehicle finished in a striking ’90s-inspired fluoro red and green colour scheme, is certainly no ordinary SUV. We take a look at the features that make this concept noteworthy.
A Battle-Ready Exterior
The Crawler’s vibrant colours are contrasted by large blacked-out components like its 17-inch Sunraysia wheels and flared fender benches, ready to tackle through mud or cruise over rugged terrain.
Other changes to the X-Trail’s bodywork include a new-look front end with a completely revised bonnet and front bumper. The adventurers out there will love its roof rack with nine individual LED light clusters on the front.
An Off-Road Champion
The X-Trail Crawler concept is equipped to handle any challenging and rocky terrain thanks to better ground clearance and angle of approach. Due to its raised suspension, there’s a lot more room for wheel travel within the arches. Meanwhile, lower body protection plates shield the mechanical components underneath, making it totally battle-proof.
The cargo area of the Crawler is stocked with all the essential tools you’d need for serious off-road adventures over rocks, trails and more!
The concept keeps the standard all-wheel-drive system and E-Power hybrid drivetrain.
Unfortunately, this trail-busting variant likely won’t reach production, however, it could inspire new accessories or other versions down the road. Either way, it proves the X-Trail has the goods to thrive out on the trails.
