Here are our top two picks of the week focusing on the Datsun brand.<\/p>\n<h2>Datsun Cherry 2-door Deluxe (1972)<\/h2>\n<div style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/datsun-cherry-2door-deluxe.jpg\" alt=\"Datsun Cherry 2-door Deluxe (1972)\" width=\"600\" height=\"320\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Datsun Cherry 2-door Deluxe (1972)<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Definitely not to be confused with the chinese model by a similar name, the Cherry was Nissan\u2019s first FF car (Motor is located in Front of the car and the vehicle is Front wheel drive). It was called the Datsun 100A in Europe and its launch inspired recognition of the Datsun brand in the UK. In fact, customer satisfaction surveys at the time reported that respondents who owned the Cherry were even more satisfied with their vehicle than those who owned the VW Beetle (which was known for inviting brand loyalists at the time). We love its distinctive eye-line window.<\/p>\n<h2>Datsun 14 Roadster (1935)<\/h2>\n<div style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/datsun-14-roadster.jpg\" alt=\"Datsun 14 Roadster (1935)\" width=\"600\" height=\"320\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Datsun 14 Roadster (1935)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>We\u2019ve decided to stick with the Datsun name but have gone back nearly 40 years before the Cherry and just a few short years after the first Datsun was born. This car would not look out of place in the Great Gatsby setting and almost gives you the urge to don elegant gloves and smoke a long thin cigarette. Let\u2019s not wander off topic, however. What is particularly unique about the Roadster is the beautiful rabbit mascot jumping out of the bonnet. Rabbits are widely considered to bring good luck in Japan and China and are even linked to fertility in parts of Japan so this mascot would have inspired confidence in the vehicle.  It had a 722cc, 14.8bhp engine and was the first car to come off the line of Nissan\u2019s \u2018new\u2019 factory in Yokohama.
