Nissan Almera Review
Our Nissan Almera Review team* spent 2 weeks with this wonderful passenger vehicle and found it to be a great addition to the South African family car range that Nissan is so rightly proud of.
The Group1 team was one of the first in South Africa to get to grips with the relaunched Nissan Almera base model and first impressions included a good impression of the ergonomically laid out and textured interior design. In fact, the cabin (complete with an unexpected rear passenger arm-rest) is tailored in black and grey fabric, with matching black trim on the door panels. Both of which give the impression of a much more expensive car than what the current Nissan Almera range is going for.
So How Does The Nissan Almera Drive?
With the rising cost of petrol, the Nissan Almera’s 1498cc, four-cylinder petrol engine is a welcome change to many of the fuel guzzlers available on South African roads. The figures quoted by Nissan are of an average fuel consumption of 7.3 litres per 100km on the five-speed manual version and we found this to be right on the money. However, we did not get a chance to test the four-speed auto base model, but Nissan has pegged the fuel consumption at 7.2 litres per 100km. Carbon emissions are reported at 149 and 171 grams per kilometre respectively. The engine is sprightly to say the least and was not found wanting at any time during the one week review period.
