Nissan NV200 LCV Review
Our Group1 vehicle review team takes the Nissan NV200 Light Commercial Van (LCV) for a spin around the city and finds that although the Nissan NV200 is not one of Nissan’s most stylish designs it does make up for it in a number of other areas. Read the full Nissan NV200 LCV Review below:
Big on practicality and even bigger on space, the Nissan NV200 Light Commercial Vehicle is a cargo van that is revolutionising it’s commercial vehicle segment thanks to a 122.7 cu. ft. load space. We found this load space (which is made up of a loadbox floor length, width, height of 2040mm, 1500mm and 1358mm respectively) to be more than ample as we tested it out with a range of different sized objects that easily fitted into the cargo area. The Multipoint Fuel Injected 5 Speed Manual Engine also ensured that there was plenty of punch beneath the foot pedal while driving around Cape Town, even when we put the 783kg maximum vehicle payload to the test.
But What About the Nissan NV200 LCV Interior?
The Nissan NV200 is built for business, so we did not expect much from a vehicle as utilitarian as this. However, the Nissan engineers have in fact done a good job making a delivery vehicle that is spartan, yet comfortable to drive.
For starters, although the Nissan NV200 LCV only has seating for two onboard it comes with a range of safety and comfort features as standard across all of the model types. These include:
- Driver and Passenger Airbags
- ABS & ABD
- A Central Door Locking System
- Remote Keyless Entry
- 4 Cup Holders
- Driver Footrest
- And A Tray Type Centre Console (which we used as a work surface and lunch table to great affect)
The rear loadbox floor is covered with tough rubber matting and the sides of the cargo area include numerous holes for installing storage boxes and other work-related items.
As a side note, we learned from Nissan that while developing the NV Light Commercial Vehicle Range, Nissan discovered that many LCV owners previously had to drill directly into the metal sides to mount whatever it is they needed for work purposes. This not only damaged the vehicle and its resale value, but also led to rust and rattle problems. This is why the NV range now includes prefabricated storage installation holes. Some really clever forward thinking from Nissan in our opinion!
So How Does The Nissan NV200 Drive?
The Nissan NV200 easily managed to assert itself around the streets of Cape Town, Stellenbosch and some of the more industrial areas that we purposefully took it through. The acceleration was continuously solid during central city driving and the Nissan NV200 was able to stand up and be counted when we punched the petrol and took it up to 120 km’s per hour down on the West Coast Road.
