Nissan’s green credentials have once again come to the fore as they are named one of the world’s greenest brands for 2013 by Interbrand in their third annual Best Global Green Brands report.
Nissan is a green leader thanks to its zero emissions 100% electric vehicle the Nissan LEAF and is ranked fifth overall out of the 50 international green brands selected.
Did you know? Nissan was also on the list last year, but has now moved up 16 positions from its showing last year.
Nissan practices what it preaches…
The 2013 Interbrand Best Global Green Brand report ranks internationally recognised brands based on a company’s environmental practices and customers’ perceptions. In this report the Nissan LEAF was cited as having a positive effect on overall perceptions of the Nissan brand. This green image was also further enhanced by a number of eco-friendly initiatives that were recently announced, such as the plans to cut all vehicle weight by 15 per cent (starting in 2017), as well as the new Nissan’s collaboration with Daimler and Ford in the development of fuel-cell vehicles that should be launched sometime before the end of 2017.
The future is greener on the Nissan side
Without sacrificing profits Nissan is now able to contribute to the sustainable development of mobility and society within a “green infrastructure”. This is thanks to years of investment in eco-friendly vehicle and building initiatives that have led to more than 65,000 electric Nissan LEAFS being sold at the time of writing, making it the best-selling electric vehicle of all time.
Nissan now sees this recognition as a top global green brand as an important step in its bid to promote clean, green corporate activities and help prompt other automotive brands make the move to a brighter, cleaner driving future.
