The innovative electrified Nissan X-Trail comes with 3D tyre deflectors at the front and an active grille shutter that helps control airflow into the engine. Electrified Nissan X-Trail Engine Specs And Technology Features

The fourth-generation Nissan X-Trail will be the second model in the European market featuring Nissan’s incredible e-POWER drive system which is exclusive to the Japanese automaker. It offers a unique approach to vehicle electrification, providing the EV-drive feeling without having to plug in.

The X-Trail’s revolutionary e-POWER system is a formidable combination of high capacity battery, powertrain and a 1.5-litre Variable Compression Ratio turbo petrol engine, with a total power output of 150kW. This technology utilises an electric motor to drive the wheels with an instantaneous response when accelerating, offering improved fuel economy, especially in urban areas. Moreover, the setup includes a generator, inverter and 150kW front electric motor for maximum efficiency.

The instant response delivers exhilarating high torque and agile acceleration to make overtaking or merging onto a highway easier and more confidence-inspiring. The e-POWER drive system guarantees a quiet drive, with a sound reduction of 8db at 40 km/h compared to competitors.

The high torque, agile acceleration and instantaneous response of the e-POWER technology allow the X-Trail to easily merge onto the highway and overtake when needed. Road noise should also no longer be a concern as the new electrified Nissan X-Trail delivers an 8db quieter ride compared to other vehicles when travelling at 40 km/h.

How Does Nissan’s e-Pedal Step Work?

Considering that most of our journeys take place in suburban areas, Nissan creates a new one-pedal driving experience known as e-Pedal Step. The goal of this revolutionary technology was to reduce stress from stop-and-start urban driving which typically requires drivers to switch feet between accelerator and brake pedals. Now, with the e-Pedal Step, drivers only need the accelerator pedal.

After activating the switch on the centre console, the accelerator will work as it always does but when you let go, the e-Pedal Step will activate the brakes and slow you down to a 0.2g deceleration. This is enough to light up your brake lights and make sure that low-speed manoeuvres, like parking, are as smooth as possible without completely stopping the vehicle.

e-4ORCE Technology On The New Electrified Nissan X-Trail

Nissan’s e-4ORCE symbolises the company’s commitment to low emissions and maximum power. The “e” stands for an all-electric motor drive system, while “4ORCE” represents the vehicle’s four-wheel command capabilities. Harnessing this innovative technology provides drivers with a reliable and eco-friendly driving experience.

Nissan’s all-wheel drive system, e-4ORCE, provides impressive traction and rapid acceleration in just about any condition. Its dual e-motor system wields 157kW of power for an energetic 0-100km/h sprint in just 7 seconds. With this superior performance, you’ll always be ready for whatever comes your way.

According to Cliodnha Lyons, Region Vice President, Product Planning, Nissan AMIEO Region: “The X-Trail with e-POWER and e-4ORCE will occupy a unique corner of the segment, being the only 7-seater family crossover with an electrified powertrain. The X-Trail is precisely the type of vehicle modern adventurous families are looking for.”

The Nissan X-Trail Mild Hybrid Model

The mild hybrid ICE model, available in two-wheel drive, will have a turbocharged 1.5-litre variable compression engine powering the wheels as any traditional ICE car does. It will deliver 120 kW and 300 Nm of torque through an Xtronic stepped continuously variable transmission. This particular model comes equipped with 12v mild hybrid technology which will provide the following benefits:

  • Torque assist
  • Extended idle stop
  • Quick restart and coasting stop for better fuel economy and CO2 emission
  • Brake regeneration stores energy in the Lithium-ion battery which is then used to run the car’s systems while the engine is stopped
