As manufacturers race towards the future, Nissan draws ahead by unveiling its carbon-neutral fueled Nissan Z Racing Concept on the world stage. Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. and Nissan Motorsports & Customizing Co., Ltd. (NMC) introduced the Nissan Z Racing Concept into the NAPAC Fuji SUPER TEC 24-h race, the second round of the ENEOS Super Taikyu Series 2023.

Nissan is hell-bent on achieving its goal to achieve carbon neutrality by the year 2030, supporting the aims of the U.N. Paris Agreement on climate change and global progress toward carbon neutrality. The company believes that the automotive industry can be a driving force in meeting global environmental and climate needs through a commitment to innovation and impact reduction. One of the areas of progress in this is its commitment to making every all-new Nissan vehicle offering in key markets electrified by the early 2030s. However, Nissan’s focus is not only on production vehicles, they’re also making an effort to lead the way in motorsports.

The racer, which was unleashed at Fuji Speedway in late May, is based on the Nissan Z GT4 and features aerodynamic and cooling system enhancements. This year it was entered into the ST-Q class for development vehicles after it received the chequered flag in the 24-hour endurance race last year.

By participating in the race, Nissan and NMC gathered valuable data for racecar and aftermarket-part development, while also gaining experience with carbon-neutral fuel.

“We aim to get a lot of data through this tough 24-hour endurance race that we can use in future development, helping us create even more exciting cars for customers around the world,” said Takao Katagiri, head of Nissan’s Motorsports Business Unit Office and president of NMC.

The outcomes of the test have not been published yet, but no matter the results, it’s clear that Nissan is

committed to its 2030 goal.
